A World Without Wind

Updated: Nov 30, 2020

John 3:8

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.

Imagine a world without wind. Imagine you never saw or heard the leaves of the trees rustling as the air flows through them. Imagine the ocean was always completely still without a single ripple. Imagine you never felt a sea breeze against your skin, or a cool breeze at the end of a warm day. Something would be wrong in such a world. It just wouldn't seem right. It would not be complete.

In the verse above, Jesus likens the Holy Spirit to wind. If a world without the wind is wrong and incomplete, then so is a world without the Holy Spirit.

It is the Holy Spirit who births us into the family of God. It is the Holy Spirit who makes Jesus real to us and connects us to the heart of the Father. It is the Holy Spirit who makes us into those who are not just Christians by name, but those who are real, vibrant followers of Jesus.

We need the freshness of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We need to know Him moving upon us, living within us and interacting with us. Life without him just isn't right. It is not complete. Open your heart to the Holy Spirit today. Invite Him to move upon you. Invite Him to lead and guide your steps this day and every day following. Enter into dynamic relationship with Him.

When you pray what is outlined below, take some time to be before Him. Listen to His prompting and leading; engage with Him in your heart; then carry that attitude throughout the rest of your day.

Think:

How long has it been since I was aware of the Holy Spirit featuring in my life? Do I live my life with openness to Him? Do I cause myself to be sensitive to Him, and therefore, to live in awareness of Him, and to work in tandem with Him?

Pray:

Holy Spirit, I need Your freshness in my life. I would love to walk in awareness of You, and to do life in tandem with You. I open my heart and life to you today.
