Be Yourself

Ephesians 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Have you ever watched a squirrel as it scurries along the treetops. It’s amazing the speed at which it bounds along! It moves from branch to branch without hesitation. It never seems to pause to consider what its next move is going to be. The branch upon which it lands, at each movement, never seems to break or fail; it instinctively knows that every step it takes is sure and certain. This seemingly effortless movement is natural for the squirrel; it’s just being a squirrel, doing what a squirrel does.

There is a place for you in life where you will take things in your stride. A place where, by being yourself, there is effectiveness. There is a place for you where every step you take will be sure and certain without you having to struggle and strain over everything that is before you; a place for you to live your life as God planned it for you.

Consider what the Lord said to Joshua in Joshua 1:3; ‘Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses’. Here, Joshua is stepping in to his divine purpose as leader of Israel; and he is doing it with the full confidence and assurance that every step he takes is ordained by God for success. The experience of Joshua can also be your experience.

There is a place in this life for you that is full of blessing. That place was designed for you to be successful in, by you just being you! Seek God today. He loves to be found by those who seek Him, and He loves to lead and direct His children, as a loving Father. Ask Him to guide your steps and to bring you in to all that He has for you.

Think

Am I struggling and straining continually to be someone that is successful? Do I have the peace, happiness, and contentment that comes with the success of being myself; with the knowledge that the hand of God is upon me?

Pray

Thank you, Lord Jesus, that you have an assignment for me in life, that I will be successful in, as myself. Lead me into that place by your grace and gentleness. Thank you for the adventure that lies before me as a child of God.
