And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left. Then you will defile your carved idols overlaid with silver and your gold-plated metal images. You will scatter them as unclean things. You will say to them, “Be gone!”
Have you ever been in a position where you needed guidance? A time of life when clear direction was required? Reading the Bible can be a great help to you in such a time. Praying is also a great help, as is going to church. Did you ever consider that listening might just be the missing ingredient to provide you with the required solution in such a time?
In 1Samuel3:10, the boy Samuel had to learn to say; 'Speak, for your servant is listening'. It's a practice that is worth trying. Ask God to speak to you. You will discover that He has something to say to you. His words, spoken into your heart, will lead and direct you. Then, reading the Bible, praying, and going to church will all help to provide confirmation of the thing that He has spoken to you.
The verses from Isaiah at the start of this article mention idols and images that will be scattered as a result of the guiding voice of God. The voice of God will speak to you in such fashion that all misrepresentations of truth will be exposed and diminished, leaving you with clarity for the way ahead.
Try it today. Ask God to speak to you, then believe what you hear Him say in your heart. It will help to lead you in clarity and truth. Jesus said, in John 10:27, 'My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me'. Start to become acquainted with His voice today.
Are my ears open to hear the voice of Jesus? When was the last time I heard Him speak to into my heart? Do I need to cultivate that walk with Him again, whereby I open my heart to listen to what He wants to say to me?
Lord Jesus, speak to me today. What do you want to say to me? Speak, for I am listening.
