Lavishly Love

John 13:35

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another

Showing Jesus to others is not just about our preaching, or giving out flyers, or holding great meetings. There is a layer underneath all of these things that speaks much louder. The very fact that we love each other is a display of the fact that we are disciples of Jesus. Others look on and observe our behaviour. How we treat each other in the public domain speaks volumes to others about how much we know and are known by God.

We must be consistent in our love with each other all year round in ways that are well summed up in 1 Corinthians 13; Be patient, be kind, don’t envy, don’t boast, don’t be arrogant, don’t be rude, don’t be forceful, don’t be irritable, don’t be resentful, don’t rejoice in wrong doing, rejoice in truth, bear all things, believe all things, hope all things, never fail! That list is quite a challenge! It’s a challenge that we must take up. It's a challenge that we can fulfil.

Think:

How can I show love to someone today? Ideas: Could I drop someone a text to encourage them? Could I send someone a Bible verse to help them? Could I send someone a link to a sermon or a song that will bless them?

Pray:

Thank you Lord Jesus for loving me! Thank you that because of that I can in turn love others. Help me to show your love to someone today
