Wear The Right Glasses

Updated: Nov 30, 2020

Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Have you ever felt sorry for yourself!? Have you been in that place where everything around you seems wrong, and everyone around you just seems like they’re against you? What makes it all worse is that nobody understands you!

Sometimes, it’s all a matter of perspective! Everything in life is viewed through a lens. If you get out of bed on the wrong side, and your energy levels are low, it’s possible to view life through the lens of a gloomy mood! Nothing has changed around you; you’ve, somehow, just woken up with the garment of gloominess upon you; complete with the glasses, that view everything around you, with a negative perspective! Nothing seems right and nobody can do right. Beware to the people who encounter you on such a day!

The right garment for you to wear comes complete with the right glasses and the right lenses; enabling you see things from the right perspective. They will help you, therefore to handle your circumstances well and to behave in the right fashion. In Judges 6:34 we read that ‘the Spirit of the Lord clothed Gideon’. The Spirit of the Lord is the right garment for you to CHOOSE every day. He will cause you to see things around you with positivity. You will therefore have the ability to display Godly character in all things.

Start each day by asking the Spirit of God to clothe you. Ask Him to be in charge of how you see things. Ask Him to govern your thought processes and therefore to govern your actions. You might begin to surprise yourself at what you begin to display! Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control might all just become the character description of who you now are. What you see in the circumstances around you might not seem that bad after all!

Think:

Am I in the habit of seeing things around me negatively? Do I choose to see things as God sees them? Do I choose to be clothed in the Spirit and to see, think, and behave in alignment with Him?

Pray:

Holy Spirit, I surrender to you. Let me see things as you see them. Let me think on things the way that you do. Help me to act and behave in accordance with you.
